SSH Server Install CA Root Certificate

 Install the root CA(s) Digital Certificate

Obtain and Install the root CA(s) and intermediate CA(s) for all certificates which will be used by the client software.

We will walk through an example for Creating and Installing a Digital Certificate using Microsoft Certificate Services

 

  1. Verify you are running the correct version of the GSW UTS for this feature. The correct version is v8.02.0039+
  2. Get the name of the CA Root Certificate
  3. Get the IP Address of the CA Server
  4. Download the Certificate

EXAMPLE Create and Install a Digital Certificate using Using Microsoft Certificate Services    
 
       
Step 1
Logon as an administrator to the computer running GSW UTS SSH2 Server (SSH Shield).
On the UTS Server check the UTS Installation Status tool to be certain you are running the minimum required version or higher.
 


 

   RESULT: VERIFIED, correct version of the GSW UTS installed

Step 2 Get the name of the CA Root Certificate.
  On the CA Server Open the Administrative Tools | Certification Authority  (certsrv).


 

Note the Name of the CA Root Certificate. As shown below, on this server it is rad-NPS-CA
Close the certsrv

 


 

   RESULT: Name = rad-NPS-CA

Step 3 Get the IP Address of the CA Server.
  On the CA Server open a command prompt and type IPCONFIG and note the IP Address of the CA Server.


 

   RESULT: IP Address = 172.16.0.2

Step 4 Download and Install the CA Certificate.
 
  1. On the UTS Server Open Internet Explorer and in the address bar type the CA Server IP address /certsrv.
    In our example it is 172.16.0.2/certsrv.
    You should get a logon prompt as shown below.
    Note: Logon an Administrator domain account (or account with permissions to request certificates).


 
  1. Once logged in, you will see a screen or similar screen as below.
    Click on "Download a CA certificate".


 
  1. Click "Yes" to any ActiveX messages and web access messages as shown below.


 
  1. Select the certificate from the list.


 
  1. Click "Download CA certificate"


 
  1. Click "Open" when prompted as shown below. This may take a full minute or two.


 
  1. The Certificate Information dialog opens.
    Click "Install Certificate" when prompted as shown below.
    (Note the red circle with the "x" icon on the certificate below indicates that the certificate is not yet installed.)


 
  1. The Certificate Import Wizard opens.
    Click "Next"


 
  1. The next screen of the Certificate Import Wizard is shown below.
    Click radio button "Place all certificates in the following store:", and then "Browse...."


 
  1. The Select Certificate Store dialog is shown below.
    Click the check box "Show Physical Stores".
    Expand "Trusted Root Certification Authorities".
    Select "Local Computer" .
    Click "OK".
    Click "Next".
    Click "Finish".


 

   RESULT: The "Import Successful" is displayed. Click OK and Close Internet Explorer.
