The Georgia SoftWorks Windows NT/XP/2000/2003 Telnet
Server will work with any RFC 854 compliant 3rd party client and the GSW
SSH2 Server with SSH2 compliant 3rd Party clients.
Correctly implemented Terminal Emulations allow
connectivity from a large variety of clients ranging from RF
Devices to Network Enabled Terminals
to UNIX clients and more!
When using 3rd party clients, comprehensive

As supported by the terminal emulation mode
- Flexible
Emulation Selection
- Details
- Selecting the terminal emulation is as simple as
responding to a prompt. Even better is automatic selection by
pre-configuring a logon script which eliminates all prompting.
-
- Flexible
Graphics Character Selection and Support
- Details
- The Georgia SoftWorks SSH2Telnet Server provides flexible
options for handling graphic characters. This is very useful as
third party clients do not always handle graphics characters and commands
as expected.
-
- Color
or Monochrome Presentations
- Details
- Some applications are developed for monochrome monitors
or terminals. Obtain the best results by configuring the SSH2 and Telnet
server to provide either a monochrome or Color presentation.
-
- Color
Re-Mapping
- Details
- Modify your application colors so they are easy to read
on a gray scale device without any source code changes! Easily re-map your
application colors to fit a customer's color scheme without changing the
source code.
-
- Automatic
Logon
- Details
- Pre-configure a list of IP addresses that will be able to
connect and log on without any User ID, Password or Domain
prompting when using 3rd Party Clients. This feature is useful in many
situations, however the real power is realized when coupled with
the Session Saver and/or used with RF Devices
allowing for fast and easy connection establishment.
-
- ALT
KEYS
- Details
- Many applications take advantage of the ALT key,
however many keyboards and terminal emulations do not
support the ALT key. The Georgia SoftWorks SSH2 Server and Telnet Server allow the
ALT key sequence to be transmitted by providing a substitute key
sequence for the ALT key.
-
- ESC Delay
- Details
- The Georgia SoftWorks SSH2 and Telnet Server is able to
distinguish if an ESC character is part of an escape sequence or
simply an Escape Key. Third party clients will send escape
sequences on certain occasions. For example when a function or arrow
key is pressed a sequence of data is transmitted that starts with the
escape character (0x1b). This must be distinguished from the times
when the user simply presses the ESC key on the keyboard.
-
- Display
Character Translation - Details
- You may have a special situation or advanced application where it would be useful to
translate characters sent to the terminal to a different character or string
of characters. Normally you do not need to get familiar with this section however the
capability is present for advanced requirements.
This feature allows you to translate (or replace) the
characters the user will see on 3rd Party Clients and RF
Terminals when using the Georgia SoftWorks SSH2 Server and Telnet Server. You may translate a single character to one or more
(up to 10 characters) other characters

- Terminal
Initialization
- Details
- You may have a special situation or advanced
application where you need to send a specific terminal initialization
sequence to a 3rd party client. Normally you do not need to get familiar with this
section however the capability is present for advanced requirements.
