How Many Devices do you Administer?

The GSW File Transfer utility for Windows CE devices is shown below.

Select the device to use for File Transfer from the "Available Devices" section (bottom right pane). Notice the pane at the top right displays the directory (folder) structure on the device. In this example the IP address 10.0.0.254 of the device is shown at the top of the right pane. The directory structure and IP address will change to match the device selected in the "Available Devices" section.

The pane on the top left is the directory (folder) structure on the workstation. Notice the path (in this case C:drive) is shown at the top left pane.

Navigate to the desired folders on the workstation and the device where you want to perform the file transfer. Navigate using the folder navigation icons (the folders to drill down, or the ".." folder to move up a level).

Multiple files can be selected to transfer using the same techniques as in Windows Explorer. Press and hold the SHIFT key down to select a continuous block of files. Select the first item in the block and then select the last item in the block and all files between are also selected. Hold the CONTROL key down to select non-continuous files.

A helpful feature is the file totals and sizes at the bottom of each pane.

Different file views are available as in Windows Explorer. For example if you right click, you can select a Detail View, Icon View, etc.

When the file view is changed on the workstation pane the device pane automatically adjusts to match the selected view. However, you can select a view for the device independent of the view on the workstation. This allows for speed and convenience.

The direction for the file transfer is specified using the arrow buttons between the workstation pane and the device pane. The arrow becomes enabled when files are selected.

The Hostname, Port, Protocol, Listing Command, Login, Password fields are standard parameters for FTP clients.

  • Hostname - The IP Address of the Device to connect. Automatically filled in when the device is selected from the Available Devices pane
  • Port - The FTP port number - Default is 21
  • Listing Command - Default - Empty String
  • Login: User Id to logon to the device - Default is Anonymous
  • Password - the password associated with the Login, UserID from above. The default password is support@georgiasoftworks.com

For Windows Mobile we have included a trial version of MochaSoft's FTP server for Windows Mobile in the download
